Administrative history
In 1961 the Engineering Division was developed from the Electrical Engineering group, Drawing Office and Workshop of the former Proton Synchrotron (PS) division. Its function was to design and execute mechanical and electrical projects arising from the experimental programme or from large-scale modificiations to the accelerators.
The Engineering Groups were :
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Engineering workshop (with a mandate to develop, build and repair special apparatus and instruments, and assist divisions or groups in the assembly and installation of components of the accelerators or experimental equipment).
In June 1962 the Engineering workshop moved into the Site and Building (SB) Division.
In 1964 the Engineering work and staff were mainly transferred to the Machine Proton Synchrotron Division (MPS).
